Akhil Sankar

Hello.

My name is Akhil and I am an embedded systems engineer.

I have nine years of professional software engineering experience, spanning production-scale distributed systems (Ruby, JavaScript, Python) and embedded firmware (C, C++) across IoT applications in the health wellness, smart home, and farming automation spaces. More recently, my work has centered on ARM Cortex-M bare-metal and RTOS-based firmware, drivers, BSPs, state machine design, and HIL testing.

I am primarily interested in electromechanical systems engineering, applying structured failure analysis and fault-tolerant design principles to meet safety-critical and performance targets. To this end, I can operate across the stack: from real-time embedded firmware and motor/actuator control up through state estimation and closed-loop control.

Academically, I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Rutgers University. As part of the Rutgers Swarm Intelligence Lab, I led the design of a novel electromagnetic actuator system providing closed-loop trajectory control of a swarm of magnetic payloads, mimicing live zebrafish. This work has since been published in the IEEE: Transactions on Control Systems Technology Journal.

Some of my other personal projects are listed here.

Cheers!

P.S. I enjoy making new friends. Ping me if you ever feel like a coffee and/or a chat :)
