Akhil Sankar

Hello.

My name is Akhil and I am a robotics and embedded systems engineer.

I have 8 years of professional software engineering experience, spanning from building web-based distributed systems (Ruby, JavaScript, Python) and robotic manipulators (Python, C++) to embedded systems (C) in the health wellness, smart home and farming automation spaces.

I am primarily interested in systems engineering of autonomous systems, with an emphasis on safety-critical design philosophies. To this end, I can operate across the spectrum: I touch mechatronics and real-time embedded systems as well as higher-level perception, state estimation and control domains.

Academically, I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.S. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Rutgers University. As part of the Rutgers Swarm Intelligence Lab, I led the design of a novel electromagnetic actuator system providing closed-loop trajectory control of a swarm of magnetic payloads, mimicing live zebrafish. This work has since been published in the IEEE: Transactions on Control Systems Technology Journal.

I sometimes work on personal projects in my spare time. Check them out over in the Projects section.

Cheers!

P.S. I enjoy making new friends. Ping me if you ever feel like a coffee and/or a chat :)
